Camila Basterra is a creative circus artist and clown. She researches and specializes in physical comedy and aerial acrobatics on a fixed trapeze.
Born and raised on the banks of the Paraná River, in the city of Rosario, Argentina, she began to immerse herself in the circus universe at the age of 13, passionate about the air and acrobatic flights.
During his training he graduated from two very important schools in Latin America: Municipal School of Urban Arts (Arg.), and the National Circus School of Brazil, in addition to studying with great references and inspirations: Migra Project, Roberto Magro, Avner Excentric, Nicanor Delia, among others.
In the constant search for her stage identity, she has created individual numbers and collective shows that have participated in festivals in Argentina, Chile, and Brazil.
In 2020 he created his first one-man circus and clown show “Yo soy, Américo”, for public, open and plural spaces, co-directed by Tato Villanueva and Leticia Vetrano, with which he made three tours in Europe and participated in festivals in 14 countries: Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, Colombia, Poland, Slovenia, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Romania, Czech Republic, Croatia and France.
In 2023, she is part of the Proyecto Migra Circus Tent team to carry out the 6th summer season and in 2024 she is invited by Circo Tranzat to carry out the summer season in Uruguay.
Her career is characterized by the intention to link dimensions that make up her personal essence: art, comedy, mental health and human rights. Public spaces are her stage of choice. She also worked as a Hospital Clown with “Locura de Clown”. In 2021 she trained as a Therapeutic Companion, researched accessibility in the performing arts and continues to discover new ways of inhabiting her profession.
